As part of the NewSTEPs program, CPHI is helping save the lives of our youngest citizens by speeding up the ordering and delivery of newborn screening results.

NewSTEPs (the Newborn Screening Technical assistance and Evaluation Program) is a program of the Association of Public Health Laboratories (APHL) to support U.S. newborn screening programs to implement new disorders, improve state public systems, and develop approaches that can lead to the timely identification of infants at risk for core genetic disorders. CPHI is collaborating with APHL through the Colorado School of Public Health to implement the activities of NewSTEPs. Though there has been marked progress, we expect even more because of the Continual Quality Improvement processes put in place across the newborn screening community.
